By: Weber Way to Wellness Reporter

LAKE COUNTY FL 11/29/22—-World Record Weber completes her 99 day “Triple Progression Challenge” beginning on August 23, 2022 and ending November 29, 2022 – setting personal bests 16 times over the course of repeatedly improving on the same 3 challenges. The results and progress of each challenge is below along with videos and details on each of the three challenges.

copyright Ⓒ ALICIA WEBER 2022

Challenge 1: 50 pull-ups + 100 push-ups This is a popular youtube challenge and a long-time fan wanted World Record Weber (WRW) to take on this challenge (where the best guy performed it in 3:26). In each challenge, WRW uses strict form and does 100 consecutive pushups, but that is not required in the youtube challenge (rest breaks allowed). This challenge is the shortest of the three challenges. She saw the most improvement in the shortest amount of time with this challenge.

50 Pull-ups and 100 pushup progession videos starting at 4:23.7 and ending at 2:51.9 (from 10/18/22 – 11/28)

In 42 days (1 month, 11 days) WRW improved by 34.82 percent in this short challenge. Here is the rundown:
10/18/22 performed after a running interval workout in the initial time of 4:23.7
10/23/22 performed in 3:19
10/24/22 performed first thing in morning 3:09.7 continuing with her next second challenge (6 minutes later) with the 210 rep aerobic challenge in 11:31
11/28/22 performed first thing in morning in 2:51.9 continuing with her next second challenge (6 minutes later) with the 210 rep aerobic challenge in her new all time personal best 10:24.3!!

Challenge 2: The 210 Rep Plyo Aerobic Challenge to build done density and overall fitness – WRW invented this challenge to develop power, strength, and stamina. It is an overall leg and arm strengthener in a high aerobic environment. It is currently the longest of the three challenges. It involves mind and body training as a certain form and order has to be followed correctly – 0r else she has to redo reps.

Challenge Details:
1.) 25 reps of 90 degree deep jump squats where bent arm elbows must dip below the bent knees on the squats – repeat 25 times in one direction and 25 times in other direction (50 reps total)
2.) 50 burpee pushups with jump and overhead clap
3.) 50 alternating one leg burpee pushups with jump and overhead clap (150 total reps so far…)
4.) Repeat #1….. (200 reps so far from steps 1-4)
5.) Finally, end with 5 consecutive chest-to-bar pull-ups and 5 consecutive chest-to-bar chin-ups (chest touches bar on each rep to count).

This is Alicia’s first 210 REP Plyo Aerobic Challenge with the initial goal of breaking 15 minutes (she does 14:32)! Over the course of 71 days she progresses to 10:24.3!!!!

210 Rep Plyo Aerobic Progressions and Results:
9/19/22 performed first thing in AM for 14:32
10/3/22 performed first thing in morning 12:55
10/17/22 performed in 11:45
10/24/22 performed in 11:31 (6 minutes after doing her new personal best to date of 3:09 in the 50 pullups and 100 pushups).
11/8/22 performed in 10:53 (she then did the 50 pullups and 100 pushups 6 minutes AFTER the 210 rep challenge).
11/14/22 performed in 11:27 (6 minutes after doing the 50 pullups and 100 pushups in 3:14 – 5 seconds off her best time to date).
11/28/22 performed in 10:24 ( 6 minutes after doing the 50 pullups and 100 pushups in 2:51.9)!!
WRW Improved her speed by 28.45 percent over the course of 71 days (2 months, and 10 days).

Challenge 3: 270 REPS + ? IN 10 MINS – A total core aerobic ab workout that WRW created in August to challenge her core in an aerobic environment. This final challenge involves all core in an aerobic fashion – ALL OUT 10 minute workout for most reps. WRW put a variety of interesting exercises in a series to a get a total body core workout. The goal is to do 270 reps and still have time left over in the 10 minute time frame to do extra reps of a final ab exercise to finish out the 10 minutes. So unlike the other challenges that are are based on improving time – this challenge is to increase reps.

Challenge Details:
1.) 50 reps with 10lbs med ball combo exercise – knee tuck situp (strict form)
2.) 50 reps wide leg flutters in a 6 inch hold
3.) 10 reps of 10lbs med ball chest presses, while maintaining 6 inch hold
4.) 50 reps horizontal leg flutters (aka scissors) in 6 inch hold
5.) 10 reps of 10lbs med ball chest presses, while maintaining 6 inch hold
6.) 50 reps of over-under wide leg flutters in a 6 inch hold
7.) 50 consecutive reps of 22cm diameter med ball pushups (270 reps so far…)
8.) whatever time is remaining – do as many Table Top 10lbs med ball ab twisties (strict form) till 10 minutes. Final Score will be 270 reps + ? = 10 minutes

Above is video of WRW’s best 10 minute AB result with 440 reps!! This was her fifth and final attempt to improve in the longest time frame of improvement of the three challenges (99 days).

In 99 days (3 months and 7 days) WRW improved her 10 minute ab challenge by 38.64 percent. It was the greatest improvement of the three challenges, but she was given the most time to improve as well.
Here are progressions and results:
8/23/22 performed only 270 reps in 10 minutes. She did the 270 reps in 9:43, but did not push herself to do twisties till 10 minutes.
8/24/22 performed a total of 324 reps (270 reps + 54 10lbs med ball ab twisties).
9/2/22 performed a total 374 reps (270 reps + 104 10lbs med ball ab twisties).
10/14/22 performed a total of 405 reps (270 reps + 135 10lbs med ball ab twisties).
11/29/22 performed a total of 440 reps (270 reps + 170 10lbs med ball ab twisties).

Summary: WRW improved by an average of 33.97 percent among all three challenges within the 99 day time frame. Thank you for reading and learning!

2016 Halloween Athletic Extravaganza

By Weber Way to Wellness Reporter

World Record Weber’s favorite holiday is Halloween for the fun, creativity, and characters that come with it. This year she had 4 days of Halloween events, which included two Inaugural Championship competitions for youth athletes.

Double Endeavor Halloween Championship Weekend

On October 29th, World Record Weber hosted a Halloween Archery Contest, which tested new and veteran archer’s skills at Halloween targets (where a lot of pumpkin smashing took place). The contest was 10 times more challenging than shooting at regular targets, but after a lot of “warming up” all the archers excelled with flying black and orange colors.

A new team called Constellations prevailed on the female side to take individual first (Lanissa with 15pts) and second places (Jadyn with 11pts). Veteran 2 x champion archer, Indaya of the Camo Hunters, took third place with 7pts. On the male side, Robin Hood (Matteo) won with 28pts, brothers Alex and Nicholas tied for second place with 26 pts, and Henry from the legendary team called The Rubies secured third place with 17pts.

halloweenarchery

The adrenaline for Halloween competitions was just beginning to brew as some athletes returned the following day and new athletes poured in for the Inaugural Halloween Cross Country One Mile Championship.

halloweenrace1

World Record Wonder Woman challenged the excited youth runners to what must be one of the toughest one mile races in the state of Florida. Prior to this competition, Weber (who has competed all over the state and nation) ran the mile course twice in 6:19 each time. Her time is a little more than a minute slower than what she would do on flat grass. She warned the racers that this is very tough and times would be slower than normal. Acting as the pace setter aka Rabbit, the Wonder Woman got the runners off to a whip, roaring start where they huffed and puffed to an incredible triumph (where approx 1,000 meters was on 12 percent grade hills and the remaining 0.4 miles were rolling or flat).

inauguralcrosscountryhalloweenrace

New cross country runner, nine year old JP, took the victory in 7:56 followed by teammates Nicole in 8:54 and Eli in 9:23. They took 1-2-3 and represented the Mariners.

Cody who helped set a Global Running Day world record, took 4th place. Our male and female Halloween Archery Champions, Matteo and Lanissa, finished this challenging course and called this their first-ever running race as they crossed the line in 5th and 6th place.

halloweenhillclimb

“The harder the challenge, then the sweeter the victory,” said Matteo who had a terrific Halloween weekend.

“It feels amazing to win archery, but I like to challenge myself at events where they are difficult for me,” mentioned Matteo.

Lanissa agreed with Matteo. “It feels good to try this run because I never raced before. It was a great motivation to get me out there. It felt great to win in archery yesterday with the top competition,” said Lanissa.

All athletes agreed that they were happy that Coach Weber challenged them to this tough cross country course rather than give them an easy, flat race.

Now, these motivated young athletes will prepare for their next events as they remember and are inspired by the words from Matteo,

“The harder the challenge, the sweeter the victory.”

Fifty-two kids were invited to compete based on their ability and background in playing hockey, soccer, and/or competitive running. Five of these 52 were the brave ones who accepted the challenge.

The coed competition brought kids together who never met before. The kids were placed on teams and encouraged to make new friends as they worked on team spirit and good sportsmanship. The kids were challenged in learning a new sport very quickly, staying positive, becoming aware of their surroundings, learning to react fast, and developing new skills in archery.

Action-Packed Tag Team Archery Championship

The sport involves sprinting and fast footwork over 100 yds. Runners are trying to escape from getting tagged as they travel from a Point A to Point B. The successful runners score goals and earn extra points by then shooting barebow category archery (the hardest type of archery) all while still huffing and puffing from all the running. This is a highly aerobic and action-packed team game. Team N & I won with 52 points. Team C & A took second with 27 points.

Both teams received journals to encourage summer creative writing.

The American Eagles won the the first-ever Championship with 26 points.
Memorial Day 2016 will be a weekend youth athletes will remember as their day to soar in the red, white, and blue and be the first to compete in a championship in a new sport! Six athletes came dressed in their red, white, and blue and gave it all they had in a highly aerobic game, which also required skill.

Two teams took to the fields in a chase game of 3 vs 3 in a large zoned rectangular field upto 100 yards in length. They had to go through the rounds as either the runners or taggers (defenders). Runners tried to successfully get from Point A to B without getting tagged. Each successful runner earned a point. Then, the runner could huff, puff, and triumph more by taking one lucky shot of an arrow at a 20 yard target. They could try to earn more team points with an accurate shot. It is non-stop action and each team is given the same amount of playing time to achieve maximum points.

Meredith Yaun Golf: Clermont, Florida’s Premiere Pro Golf Coach

By: Alicia Weber

Golf with Meredtih Yaun and Become A Phenomenon!

Meredith Yaun is a PGA professional golf coach who has been coaching kids and adults in Clermont for 23 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the city of Clermont and she provides her students unique opportunities. She can be reached for lessons at 407-341-1793.

Meet Meredith Yaun, Clermont, Florida’s Premiere PGA Pro Golf Coach

She offers group lessons to all levels of golfers on Saturdays and she offers private lessons. She guides high school golfers to scholarships and she provides golf/fishing summer camps for kids. Her lessons are one hour and they are packed with education and motivation. She explains and demonstrates golf techniques. She creates games for students, but she also steps in and challenges students in golf skill development games.

“Good aim and good speed are key in golf,” said Yaun.
MeredithYaunGolf1

Marianne Jones, 8, has been training in golf for a year under Yaun. Currently, she is working on her putting. She hopes to one day compete. She practiced putting on an upgrade and downgrade to decide how best to aim and how to swing to create the best speed to get the ball in the hole.

“You have to think in golf. In soccer and other sports you just run around,” said Jones who has been playing soccer five years and plays for Florida Rush on the Lady Lions team.

Yaun encourages students of different sport backgrounds to take up golf. She is a strong advocate of well-rounded fitness and she prepares golfers for all conditions.

“In golf there is a lot of skill to master. You have to learn to aim. You have to think about hills, wind, rain, and how you will swing and hit the ball for the different conditions,” mentioned Jones who thinks highly of Yaun and is confident of Yaun’s teaching methods as Yaun is a very successful Lady Pro Golfer.

The local youth age 6-14 can train and then compete in the US kids Disney Tournament and try to make it to the World Championships in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Yaun trains young students, adults, and seniors alike at the Clerbrook Golf Club and other golf clubs in Clermont, Florida.

Yaun’s son, Jonathan, finished 32nd at the World Championship when he was thirteen and he took 12th place in the 2015 Florida 3A Golf State Championships as he aspires to one day be on the PGA Tour. Meredith Yaun was a Lady Pro golfer who competed for 10 years on the European Tour from 1983-1993. She was based in England 6-10 months out of the year. Her most memorable competition was when she played on a team with three amateurs in a Corporate Golf Day Tournament (3 amateurs and one lady pro comprised the teams).

Her teammates were the CEO of British Rail (a golfer who had one arm and golfed with it), CEO of Themes TV, and the CEO of London Evening Standard newspaper. They played 18 holes and her team won. She was inspired to see how well the man played with only one arm. This motivated her to be prepared for anything and be ready to train anyone including disabled golfers. Meredith Yaun went on to invent different golf strokes like the “one arm bandit” to help disabled golfers excell and give all golfers a challenge!
OneArmBandit

Senior golfers under Yaun’s tutelage have a second wind as they have all become highly motivated and competitive.

“I am amazed at how quickly Meredith can get me back to where I was before my hand surgery,” exclaimed Freddie at his second session with Meredith after a three month sabbatical from golf after his surgery.

“I play 2-5 times a week on golf courses in Clermont and Orlando and Clerbrook is the most challenging and exciting course. Come to Clerbrook to become a great golfer. I have had several golf lessons with other instructors and Meredith is by far the most understanding and best instructor I have ever had. The flexibility gains and health benefits from golf combined with the improvements made from Meredith’s help are very self-motivating and make me more competitive,” mentioned Steve, a dedicated and very competitive senior golfer.

Clerbrook offers group and private lessons with Meredith Yaun. The club is also open to the public and they offer a men’s league and women’s league for those who want to compete and make friends.

“I highly recommend anyone, male or female, to take golf from Meredith. She takes what you have naturally and enhances it and she is always positive. Your scores will improve,” agreed Clo Ann (who went from a 36 handicap to 26 handicap) and Shiela (who went from a 32 handicap down to a 20).

MeredithYaun2

ATTENTION Clermont runners, triathletes, and endurance athletes – Golf is a great sport to learn to enhance flexibility and stretch tight muscles.

“I took my first-ever swings at golf under Meredith Yaun’s instruction and I saw success immediately. I could feel the increase in my flexibility and the mental components of golf. Research has shown that golf improves flexibility in endurance athletes and it is a suggested sports specific training activity for endurance athletes to keep them limber and agile as they get older,” said Alicia Weber who was very impressed with Meredith’s coaching methods. Weber could see where training under Meredith and achieving success could become addictive and create a lot of golfers in Clermont.

April 28, 2013 – May 19, 2013 CLERMONT, FL — Noah Christopher became the Celebrity of the Inaugural Obstacle Archery Competition and the brave athlete that entered NEW territory in Clermont, Florida, on April 28, 2013. He considered himself not really into athletics, but really into archery!! He learned very quickly that he was a star at both fitness AND archery in the Obstacle Archery competition!

Noah Becomes the Obstacle Archery Celebrity on April 28, 2013!!!!

We can describe Obstacle Archery like playing a video game where World Record Weber chases the competitors to motivate them to a new fitness level. Weber chases competitors, while videoing them as they take on 5 -7 fitness challenges within a timed Fitness Obstacle. The fastest time wins the first portion of this adrenaline pumping, thrilling competition! The competitors then get a recovery period. The next challenging part of the competition is taking on target archery in a creative fashion. The target archery is full of surprises and tests an archer’s proficiency, speed, and performance. Overall, Obstacle Archery is full of surprises every week. Noah says his favorite part of the competition is getting his banana after the competition!
