Alicia Weber’s 2011 Florida Rowing Report (with some bicep flexing)

I kicked off my competitive season on Feb 6, 2011, at the 2011 Southern Sprints Indoor Rowing Championship in Melbourne, Florida. I shaved a second off my time in the 500m dash and took 4th place in a close race. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place were all within points of a second from each other, while the winner was 3 seconds ahead.

Next up, I visited what is to be for years to come the World Class Rowing Center in Sarasota, Florida, at Nathan Benderson Park.  This is a fabulous flat water 2,000m outdoor rowing course surrounded by a 5 mile trail.  I cycled along the trail as I videoed the lake and flexed my bicep (as I held the camera in the other hand).

Reporter:  What is your confidence level and ability to perform comedy roles extemporaneously, while guiding clients to fat loss and physical fitness gains?

Alicia:  My confidence is very high.  I am used to juggling what I call “double” or even “triple endeavors” and I thrive on versatility.  So I am even more energized and excited with the dual roles I play in the 13 week fitness makeover!  I have been a fitness trainer/nutritionist and enterainer for over 10 years, so I know the ropes.

Reporter:  This is your first “fitness makeover” of 2011.  How do you feel about it?

Alicia:  I am very excited!  Many people are excited and rearing to go!  I am very happy so many people care enough about their health to do this challenging event!

Reporter:  How often to do you do “fitness comedy”?

Alicia Weber Wishes Holiday Cheer & Says Goodbye to 2010 with Extreme Endurance Strength Feat!

November 2, 2010–Alicia Weber’s tricep muscles were excited and drooling over a final challenge!  She decided to test herself at the toughest type of 2-arm and 2-leg pushups for endurance – 30 -minutes of Tricep Pushups.  She already holds world records in a variety of regular 2-arm pushups and one-arm pushups categories.  However, tricep pushups are not a record cateogry, and she is just doing these tricep pushups for fun in the vieo below!  In 2010, Alicia ends her year with a record 24 world records in strength, speed, and endurance verified by the Book of Alternative Records and featured in World Record Holder’s Republic the registry for Human Achievement World Record Holders.

The tricep pushups for endurance isolate the 3 tricep muscles (medial head, lateral head, and long head of the tricep m.).  Maxing out and going for 30-minutes is VERY challenging on the triceps AND the ABS as they stabilize the core and keep a straight body position.  Rules:  Tricep Pushups must be performed on a hard surface, arms start in full extension, and end bent with chest touching floor as hands are held in a triangle position (as shown here).  Legs stay straight with no lifting of the hips.  Rest breaks are allowed.

Weber Celebrates Thanksgving in “Turkey Trot and Hop”

Thanksgiving 2010, LAS VEGAS, NV—I eat, sleep, and talk Track and Field!  So my ideal Thanksgiving would be having the opportunity to run with a pack of Turkeys.  Running is always in the picture with me-Track Coach, Johnny Deltoid.  However, I am out in the desert in Las Vegas and there are no turkeys in sight!

I decided to celebrate Thanksgiving by hosting an event called “Turkey Trot and Hop” to satisfy my running desires.  Participants first run 200m all out on a grass course that ends on a hill.  Then, they take a 200m recovery jog.  Immediately after that they hop 200m on the same course.  They do the first 100m hop on their Left Leg and then the 2nd 100m on their Right Leg.  They then can compare times from their one-leg hopping abilities to two-leg sprint abilities.  It is an exciting evaluation in fast-twitch muscle fibers, biomechanics, and muscle stabilizers (since they will be used on the uneven grass surface, unlike on a track).  PLUS it is an “attracktive” way to spend Thanksgiving.

Alicia Weber “The Machine” – World Records

I was first nicknamed “The Machine” in high school when I would run and win cross country races and track and field races from sprint to long distances. I became a 2 x All-American in the 10,000 meters, while in high school at Junior Nationals and I medaled at National Championships in events from 1,500m -10,000 meter runs and 5k cross country.  The nickname of “The Machine” continues as I have over 400 world records in strength, speed, and endurance, and I am a professional fitness trainer.

I graduated from University of Florida where I was a letter winner in Track and Cross Country. I have B.S. degrees in Biology and Communication.  I was then in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program to expand my specialty of aquatic therapy.  My clients also refer to me as “The Machine” as I train with each and every one of them to motivate them.  When I am not training people, I am training myself in world record setting or training for the 17 sports I compete in on an elite level.  I am really W-I-L-D  about exercise and physical fitness!!!

I must warn you though – I do have an alter ego and I get the urges at times to get off the athletic field and get ON STAGE!  I have been an entertainer for a variety of acts for years!   I am most known for my “One Woman Shows” where I combine “character comedy” with strength feats! I perform Live and I have a line of shows here.  Here’s a preview of my 7 character comedy show.

Jump Rope Skipping, single foot I achieved the record for the fastest rope-skipping on a single foot. I skipped 77 times in 30 seconds and 449 times in 3 minutes.  *Although not required by the rules, I used a skipping rope weighing 0.68kg (1.5 lbs) which made the attempt even more difficult. I grew up on a Tennessee farm where I would spend my days trotting with thoroughbreds, hurdling over big pigs, and leaping over haystacks!  You wouldn’t catch me pigging out or hitting the hay though!  I was wide awake and ready to go with my rear in gear!  I fell in love with the sport of track and field where I always had a “shoe in & a leg up” on the competition!  Now, don’t get me mixed up with “Catalina Cathouse” my coach’s wife.  That Catalina began running to chase men!  I was running, jumping, and throwing for the passion of the sport!  Then, when I over threw the shot put at the SEC Conference Championships I decided to  get a little more “elbow grease” and put a little more arm into things!

Back in Jan 2010, I was a V.I.P at a 3 day Strength of Feats and Arm Wrestling Show where strongmen lined up to take me on!  I had a blast and wanted to stay longer so I arm wrestled the guest for another night’s stay at the Bellagio. I won the match and celebrated at the Vegas Clubs where I boogied on the dance floor and showed off my best moves in a BIG way!  Well, now I am in Clermont, Florida, for Halloween and I really want to liven’ things up and teach you some new moves! Clermont Florida’s Inaugural “Fat Flush Fitness Rush” a Success!

Jenni was the lone participant in the Inaugural 14 Day Fat Flush Fitness Rush where she took 2 inches off her waist and lost 6 lbs!!  She calls this 2-week program a life changer!

Now, let’s talk to Jenni about her 14-day journey with “Fat Flush Fitness Rush”.

Q.  Knowing that you have done Weight Watchers and other fat loss programs before, how does “Fat Flush Fitness Rush” compare? 

Jenni answers,  “It doesn’t!  Fat Flush Fitness Rush is in a league all of its own!  It’s the hardest I worked in 2-weeks straight. I was capable of doing everything, but it is twice the intensity given that workouts are on the beach!  I get twice more out of the program though!”

Q.  What are some changes you made and do you think you will continue to improve after the 2-week period? 

Jenni answers,
“For the 1st time in 20 years I went 2-weeks without Diet Soda.  I replaced my candy and sweets with fruit and yogurt and I am satisfying my sweet tooth that way!  I used to snack after dinner and that bad habit went out the window!  This 2-week program has improved my sleep patterns and my body wants to be on a schedule (no staying up late) and it carries over to increased endurance in my workouts.  I couldn’t manage 1 suicide run on Day 1.  By Day 13, I did 5 suicide runs in a row and with each one my times got faster!  I absolutely want to continue this healthy lifestyle and my taste buds and muscles want me to continue too!!”

Q.  Have you been able to adopt some new healthy habits?

Physical Fitness Testing Makes a Difference

Just hitting the gym 3 times a week makes a person feel better, but the people that do that PLUS get tested in physical fitness get SO MUCH MORE out of fitness and LIFE!!

A top finisher in Alicia’s “2010 Toughest Fitness Challenge” said that the physical fitness testing is where she learned her strengths and weaknesses.  Going to the gym regularly, she never knew where she stood head to toe.  Now, she knows where she stands and is better because of her fitness challenge!

Alicia “World Record” Weber says, ”All walks of life can benefit from a fitness challenge no matter if you are behind the desk working all day or in the military.  However, if you are in the military or police, I feel you should do a fitness challenge yearly to stay on top of your game.”

Clyde works at the computer by day, but is there for his workouts at night.  He won 2 fitness challenges with Alicia so far.  He knows he will stretch himself and it is fun to see how far you can go under Alicia’s tutelage.

Alicia says, “Although people may hear ‘physical fitness testing’ and feel their stomachs churn and want to avoid the topic, my ‘tests’ are not regimented and mundane.  They can actually be pretty fun.”

Clyde just competed and won a “Lungfish Challenge” which consisted of an aquatic long jump, water intervals, and others.  Once one challenge is done, he is ready for another! 

Alicia gives Clyde a Pop Quiz for Spiderman Pushups and challenges him to 24 reps (his current best is 14 reps)!  He is preparing for Alicia’s January 2011 Fitness Challenge!

Clyde comments on his physical fitness excitement, “I love the adrenaline rush, goal setting, and competition. It is an individual competition to test myself and I trust Alicia to sculpt my body and be able to do things I can’t imagine doing.  Alicia is an ‘exercise artist’ with each exercise and workout preparing one for a bigger goal and achievement.”

A retired S.W.A.T police sniper believes yearly physical fitness testing is a MUST.  He trains under Alicia and recently won a competitive shooting competition. He has been challenged in a 3-min Aerobic Step Test and ab endurance challenges and he hopes to take part in Alicia’s next fitness challenge.  He believes being retired is about traveling and being able to climb the Great Wall of China or a mountain in France, if you wish.  You don’t want to come into retirement over-worked, bedridden, and unable to enjoy life because you left your physical fitness to the dogs!

12 Tips for Better Eating

Hello Friends,

I recently was surprised to learn about the number of people who are bedridden or must be in a wheelchair. I was surprised because many of these people are in their 60’s! They have no pathological diseases. Their fate came about due to lack of exercise. They all were “couch potatoes” and, subsequently, became overweight which eventually led to atrophy of their muscles.

Just hearing about these persons gave me a sense of fear. If fear is a motivator to make me exercise more, then bring it on! Most of our health problems come from lack of exercise. We were made to move those 600+ muscles that we have. And, of course, the other problem that we have is our diet!

All of the newsletters I get from the medical experts say the same thing: our health is determined from our life style, NOT our genetics. Of course, there are exceptions. People who have thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, and other genetic disorders are truly limited by their genetics. I had to prepare blood transfusions for these children and adults on a regular basis. But the majority of us can choose our fates.

So, with this in mind, here’s a list of tips for making better diet choices.

1.)  Eat at least 1 salad daily. Lots of raw vegetables are filling & provide fiber and essential vitamins & minerals.

2.)  Completely cut sugars & simple carbohydrates from your diet. They create a “glucose–insulin–low blood sugar–more glucose desired” cycle.

3.)  Shore up on fiber—it’s filling so you’ll eat less. High fiber foods include vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, seeds, whole grains. Dr. Agatston, the cardiologist from the South Beach Diet, says a slice of bread should have 3 grams of fiber.

4.)  Soup is filling. Have clear broth-based soup as an appetizer rather than a creamy-based soup.

5.)  Make sure protein is included in your meals & snacks: chicken, turkey, tofu, low fat cheeses.

6.)  Drink plenty of water.

7.)  Eat an apple 15 minutes before a meal. Researchers have found that it cuts caloric intake by 200 calories.

8.)  Control portions—use a smaller plate.

9.)  Use xylitol-sweetened gum or mints. It satisfies between meals.

10.)  Allow yourself a piece of dark chocolate if you must have a treat.

11.)  Use a food journal. Being honest and writing out what is consumed can be very revealing and helpful.

12.)  Green tea is an excellent product to aid in weight loss, and it has many health benefits. I get a product which is flavored with no caffeine. A dropper is equal to 15 cups of green tea.
